The current companion is an unsigned development foundation. There is no public download yet; these steps explain the intended and locally testable workflow.

Install on Windows
Use a signed GridCue Companion release when one becomes available. Windows may request Private network permission; Public network exposure is intentionally unsupported.

Find Le Mans Ultimate
The companion checks conventional Steam locations or a path you explicitly choose. A valid root must contain
UserData. Registry scanning and internet discovery are not used. - 03
Choose a setup destination
Select an existing folder inside the recognized LMU root. GridCue never assumes one universal setup folder and will not create or write outside the location you approve.

Pair through the mobile app
Open the companion’s short pairing window, scan its fresh QR code in GridCue, compare the identity details, and approve. Pairing is local, expires quickly, and is tied to device keys.

Send or install a setup
Only
.svmfiles up to 2 MiB are accepted. The companion validates name, length, and SHA-256, stages atomically, and refuses to overwrite an existing file. - 06
Launch only when you ask
An explicit launch validates
Le Mans Ultimate.exebeneath your selected root. No background command, arbitrary path, URL, or launch argument is accepted.
TROUBLESHOOTING
If pairing does not appear
- Confirm phone and PC are on the same private network.
- Open a new pairing window; old QR codes expire.
- Check Windows Firewall permits the companion on Private networks.
- Remove the old pairing from GridCue after identity rotation, then pair again.
- Use dry-run to validate setup paths before writing.
